Hey guys, went to the local gun show this weekend and the cheapest AK was selling for $699 ! :confused_ma:

AR's were selling in the $1100 to $1200 for basic rifles.

Heck, I even saw a Bushmaster .308 for $3000 ! :banghead:

Pickings were slim and it was the most crowded show I ever attended. Most other guns were close to normal values with a few marked up 10% or so. Magazines were outrageous with no great deals anywhere. In fact, some vendors marked up their prices a few $$$ for the following day ! :rant:
On Ammo, I did manage to pick up a German .308 battlepack of 200 rnds for $125 (that's with tax). The guy SOLD OUT of .223 Ammo completely !!!

Oh and the score ?

I found........(drum roll)........a Heavy Barrel FAL (FALO) with IMBEL receiver for $999 !!!

**The one I bought doesn't have the bipod and has a shorter barrel with no sling attachment ring on the barrel (I need to get one).

All my wood furniture is in good shape though and to me it just looks bad ass. :RockOn:

My muzzle brake is different but everything else matches perfectly.

I feel better for what I paid for my Izzy heavy barrel....

I also feel GREAT about how much I paid for my Port .308 a few years back...:biggrin:

Is it a heavy barrel cut down or a light barrel??

Heavy barrels surely live up to their name...

Standard FN-FALs go for about $950 to $1000.

DSA FALs go were going for about $1250 to $1500+ last time I checked.

Israeli Heavy Duty FALs on Imbel receivers (like mine) usually run about $1500 to $2000+ and are somewhat difficult to find.

I'd be wary of any FAL under $800 - it's probably a Century Arms built from mis-matched surplus parts & kits on a ho-hum receiver at best.

Thanks for the info.
Next time I am home I will check the gun safe to see what kind I have.
Its all metal parts, a little heavy, has a tripod and some ammo tends to not eject.

great score AD. I found a nice Saiga 308, 22in bbl, with the MAK90 type thumbhole stock at a local gun show. I'm a happy camper like you!

Nice find and a very very good price. As an example, about a year ago I sold my south african on imbel for 1200 and a couple months later I sold my imbel on imbel for 1400.

You're dreaming my friend. Cheaper soon is a figment of your imagination. AWB hanging over our heads, inflation and such, means more. The cheapest you could get one was 750.00 3 months ago....850.00 1 month ago....950.00 now. It's not going down unless Obama has a stroke.

Maybe he is hinting at some sort of civil or race war. Guns will get real cheap then, you will be getting them for free by picking them out of a pair of dead hands.

Within the first 100 days of The Obama admin they are going to make a move against gun owners.

Black rifles of every stripe , even no name cheap stuff, will start at a opening bid of 1500.

High quality 30 round mags for AK and AR will be fetching tripple digits.

My rifle looks just like the one in the background except it does not have the the ridges on top. I assume thats for mounting a sight or light.

Yep, I added a top rail / cover to mount accessories.

It also has a cutout above the mag to allow the use of stripper clips.
